Dr Shenando Stals

Dr Shenando Stals is a Research Associate on the SECRIOUS project and lecturer in the field of Human-Computer Interaction. He is originally from The Netherlands, where he obtained a BSc in Technical Informatics, and a MSc in Human-Technology Interaction from the Eindhoven University of Technology. As part of his MSc, he came to Edinburgh as an Erasmus exchange student, fell in love with the city, and never left. He obtained a PhD in Urban Interaction Design (Computing) from Edinburgh Napier University, investigating the emotional person-place relationships of citizens with personally meaningful places in the urban environment, and using design fictions to envision how this could inform the design of technological devices and services for the hybrid city of the (near) future. His research interests include UX design, HCI, affective computing, serious games, and speculative design.
